The United States said Wednesday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has applied for a visa to attend the review conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in New York in May, DPA reported.
US Ambassador Susan Rice confirmed that the application has been filed, but did not say whether the US Department of State would grant the visa or not.
The three-week review conference at UN headquarters in New York will open on Monday. About 30 foreign ministers, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are already set to address the conference.
