Russia is not against the Iranian proposal to hold a trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Iran on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said at a briefing in Moscow.
"We have nothing against this meeting. If such a meeting takes place, obviously, it is necessary to wait for its results and then talk about the possibility of Iran's mediation in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement", Nesterenko said commenting on the Iranian proposal to mediate in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement .
Nesterenko emphasized that at this stage, Iran's proposal concerning its participation in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement concerned only holding such a tripartite meeting.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has not received formal proposals from Azerbaijan to include Turkey in the co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh, Nesterenko said.
"Russia, as one of the countries of the Minsk Group co-chairs, has not received this proposal officially, if it was. In any case, consent of all parties of the conflict is necessary to hold the conversation. Taking into account that the process of ratification of the protocols on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations has been delayed, one can hardly count on such an agreement," diplomat said at a briefing in Moscow.
