Huseyin Ertunc claimed that he had discovered the edition of the daily Aksam dated November 11, 1938, -- printed a day after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, died on November 10, 1938 -- in a crack in the cave wall.
"The newspaper is still intact and readable. It might have been hidden up there by someone greatly upset by the death Ataturk," Ertunc said.
The headline of the 72-year-old newspaper reads "The Turkish Nation! You have lost your Savior, your greatest son. Your sacred duty is to preserve his work and keep it safe."
