Iranian ayatollah warns U.S. officials about Quran

09 September 2010 [10:15] - TODAY.AZ
One of the Iranian religious scientists, Ayatollah Safi Gulpayigani has warned U.S. officials, the Pope and Christian religious leaders in connection with the plan of one of the religious communities in the U.S. to burn the Koran on 9/11, FARS news agency reported.

"The Quran respectfully mentions all the prophets, encourages everyone to be faithful. This book calls upon humanity to peace, love and mercy of Allah. Despite that the precepts of this book are performed by 1.5 billion people, the people of other religions also respect this book. Disrespect to the Quran is disrespect to all prophets, including Ibrahim, Moses and Jesus. If such case happens, we will consider President Obama responsible in this case," said Gulpayigani.

One of the American religious communities plans to burn the Quran on Sept. 11. With it, it wants to remember the victims of the 2001 terror attacks in the United States, committed by Islamic radicals.

This community was established in Florida. They call themselves the "Dove World Outreach Center". State authorities have banned the community from conducting action of burning the book. But the head of the community, priest Terry Jones said that the burning of the Quran will occur in any case. President Barack Obama and representatives of various religions in the United States have condemned the plans of the community and opposed against such statements.
