Batumi – the city beyond expectations - PHOTOS

Batumi – the city embraced by the Black Sea in Georgia’s far west. Today.Az had the opportunity to visit that beautiful city during summer vacation. It was too long to go there – 21 hours and 1000 kilometers from Baku by car. As we decided to see Batumi, time and distance made no obstacle to us.

The trip was very colorful right from the beginning. First of all, driving across Azerbaijan, seeing the many-sided beauty of the motherland, witnessing the climatic change of the weather and landscape gave the impression that we have never had before.

The second part of the road adventure began with the Georgian land – another natural treasure kept by the Caucasus Mountains. Way to Batumi went on the highways hidden among forests. It was an exclusive feeling to be accompanied by nature and freshness along the way we went.

Batumi’s panorama seen in front indicated our arrival to the city which we just created in our imagination. We at last entered the city – novel ambiance, extraneous sights, new excitements. Initial acquaintance with Batumi made us say: Here is the place beyond our expectations!

Modernity and antiquity go on a perfect marriage and paves the way to make city more attractive. Skyscrapers with advanced designs and conservatively protected old monuments, structures show care for today and respect to oldness in the city.

Batumi’s natural landscape is something to be stressed strongly. Green land laying on the coast of the Black Sea, mountains covered with thick forests creating a good balance with the modern cityscape, pure sea water, fresh air ignites a love inside towards that wondrous place.

The seaside boulevard of Batumi resembles the site uniting different cultures from all over the world. We met Russian, Eastern, Western, Thai etc. cultural signs presented by various facilities there. Cleanness of the boulevard and the whole city deserves to see thumbs up.

Visit Batumi’s botanical garden and then say that you have seen the nature of the whole world. The garden divided into sections hosts plants belonging to different natural conditions of the globe. Asian, American, African, Australian, Chinese, South-East Asian etc. nature get a good chance there to be seen as original as in their local lands despite the huge distance.

The local people are very hospitable. There are full of smiling faces, optimism in Batumi. Friendly atmosphere lets feel like at home. Ears are pleased by the live music sounding at the cafes of the city, especially at night.

One more thing we appreciated highly in Batumi was the policewomen we saw in the streets. Well-dressed, good-looking, smiling, pretty ladies of Georgian police add another interest to the city.

The eating we tasted in Batumi were very and very unique, Georgian khingal in particular. The original khachapuri’s taste was far too different from the one in Baku.  And also their distinctive tea drinking tradition: a cup of hot water with a label tea for each one around table, no teapot in the middle of the table.

At the end, impressions we got in Batumi blinks us to advice that miraculous city to visit. One can meet every possibility for a perfect relaxation there. Worth to see, familiarize with and step on the lands of Batumi. We still feel ourselves fortuned for spending some days of our life there.
