Village in Fuzuli quarantined due to Bird Flu

16 March 2006 [09:25] - TODAY.AZ
After bird flu was confirmed in Boyuk Bahmanli village, Fuzuli region of Azerbaijan, quarantine was imposed on the village.

All automobiles are being disinfected in the village entry. The ways have been disinfected and all domestic animals have been culled in the 100 meter radius. But some villagers have not yet isolated domestic birds in the village.

Local residents told the Karabakh bureau of APA that the veterinary service was delaying precautions. No awareness was raised among the residents yet. Fortunately, nobody has been infected with the virus up to now in the village.

APA bureau reports that Horadiz Border Group Veterinary Service is disinfecting the neutral zone bordering on Iran. Mass deaths are observed among wild birds in small lakes and in some parts in the borderland.

The region Veterinary Service representative for Boyuk Bahmanli village refused to give information about these facts and claimed that the death of domestic birds has nothing to do with bird flu.

Fuzuli region Veterinary Service reported that the region's part bordering on Beylagan region is under quarantine, and all automobiles are being disinfected in the region entry.
