According to AssA-Irada, 20% of the respondents in the poll, held among a hundred experts by the Inamli Ses non-government organization, said these relations are normal. Over 30% of those polled said the authorities and opposition "maintain confidential ties".
Asked which side is interested in the current level of ties, 48% of those polled referred to "the authorities generally", 28% "conservative forces within the authorities", and 10% cited such forces within the opposition.
5% of those polled cited "the opposition generally", 4% Russia and Iran, 3% Western countries, and 2% both the authorities and opposition.
Asked how they see such relations, 54% of respondents said the authorities and opposition should acknowledge each other. 21% said the two sides should cooperate, the same percentage said they should consult only on issues of nationwide importance. 4% spoke in favor of competition between the authorities and opposition.
The survey participants included political analysts, economists, representatives of political parties, NGOs and leading media.
