"Nizami Ghanjavi is an Iranian poet, not Azerbaijani," said Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Afshar Soleymani.
"Nizami did live in Ganja, but all his works are in Persian and he has noting in Azerbaijani," he added.
Afshar also condemned the deliberate efforts of Azerbaijan to introduce Sharyar as one of Azerbaijan's poets, Iranian Students News Agency informs.
