The Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have been ranked among the world's most powerful armies, Azernews reports, citing the U.S. publication “U.S. News and World Report.”
The list is topped by the militaries of Russia, the United States, Israel, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Turkiye, and Ukraine.
Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces hold the 29th position on the list.
“U.S. News and World Report” also provided additional information about Azerbaijan.
It is noted that Azerbaijan is a country located in the Caucasus region, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Situated at a geographic intersection, the country first became a democratic republic in 1918 after World War I, having previously been under the rule of various empires. However, just two years after gaining independence, it was incorporated into the USSR. Following the Soviet Union's dissolution in 1991, Azerbaijan reestablished itself as an independent republic.
The majority of the population are ethnic Azerbaijanis. While most citizens are Muslim, Azerbaijan is a secular state that guarantees freedom of religion. Azerbaijan is considered a presidential republic.
The country is rich in natural resources, and its economy is primarily based on oil and other energy exports. Azerbaijan is considered a prosperous country with a high level of economic development and literacy.
It should be noted that Bangladesh is ranked 30th, Colombia 31st, Canada 32nd, and Italy 34th on the list. Armenia and Georgia are not included in the ranking.
