Baku Metro enhancements finalized for COP29

03 November 2024 [15:46] - TODAY.AZ

During COP29, the preparation of "Baku Metropolitan" CSC stations has been finalized in accordance with changes to traffic flow toward the city center, event venues, and other organizational issues.

Throughout the preparatory period, activities closely related to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency and other institutions were carried out, Azernews reports.

According to a report from CSC, appropriate measures have been implemented in the Baku metro in connection with the adjustment of the working mode at transport exchange centers near the "Koroglu" station, which is located near the Baku Olympic Stadium where the COP29 conference will be held.

Two additional "BakiKart" terminals have been installed in the vestibule of the "Ulduz" station, where the main bus routes will be directed. Considering the space and technical capabilities of the station, four additional turnstiles have been installed at the automatic check-in checkpoint to facilitate more efficient passenger entry. Additionally, the control booth has been updated, and a zone has been created to ensure easy access for wheelchair users. The control booth has been modified for better management of passenger flow in other areas of the station.

To help passengers easily determine bus routes, appropriate signage has been placed on the platform and in the station passages. Further measures will be implemented during COP29.

Preparatory measures have been taken to assess the technical capabilities of the stations concerning infrastructure organization, passenger flow regulation, control mechanisms, and other related issues. Control and regulation mechanisms will also be implemented at Khatai, Gara Garayev, Neftchilar, Khalglar, and Ahmadli metro stations, where bus routes will lead toward the city center.

In general, additional duty schedules have been prepared, adhering to the control protocols applied under normal operating conditions. With the involvement of managers and specialists from all stations, as well as other infrastructure-related departments, additional control mechanisms will be established to enhance the infrastructure of metro stations while prioritizing passenger satisfaction and comfort.
