US to donate 3 motor boats to Azeri NAVY

The United States is expected to donate up-to-date radar equipment and three motor boats to the Azerbaijani navy by the end of 2006.

The the Moscow-based Parliament newspaper quoted US sources reports Azerbaijan is planning to replace the Russian-made facilities at its naval bases with the equipment provided by NATO, Assa-Irada indorms.

Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov stated during his recent visit to the U.S. that official Baku plans to cooperate with Washington in protecting the latter's interests in the Caspian region.
