Vugar Gashimov and Ulvi Bajarani lead in Abu Dhabi tournament

In the Masters category, Gashimov beat GM Edvin Kengis from Latvia, while Fedorov defeated GM Alexander Gholshchapov from Ukraine.

Both Gashimov and Fedorov currently share the top spot with 3.5 points each.

In the fifth round, the two top players will face each other to help decide the sole leadership of the competition. Eight players are hot on the heels of the leaders with only half-a-point separating them.

FM Ulvi Bajarani from Azerbaijan, the top-seeded player, shared the leadership in the under-12 tournament with four other players with 3 points each from as many rounds. Indians Surya Sudarshan, Vidhyasaagar M.H. and Vishnu Vijay and Axel John Valerio of the Philippines have joined top-seeded Bajarani as joint leaders, following their wins in the third round.

Bajarani beat Indian Harish Naido, Sudarshan defeated Ahmad Saleh Al Jasmi from the UAE, Vidhyasaagar beat Amanov Aman from Turkmenistan, Axel defeated Sanan Rahmili from Azerbaijan, while Vijay defeated Assmaa Abu Bakr, the girl player from the UAE.
