National Broadcasting Council suggests charging foreign broadcasters between AZN 88 000 and 110 000

The proposals are intended to charge the local broadcasters between AZN 44 000 and AZN 55 000 for broadcasting throughout the country, between AZN 22 000 and AZN 27 500 for broadcasting in Baku, between AZN 5 000 and AZN 11 000 for broadcasting in regions.

The Council intends to charge foreign broadcasters AZN 88 000 and AZN 110 000 for broadcasting throughout the country, between AZN 44 000 and AZN 55 000 for broadcast in Baku, between AZN 22 000 and AZN 27 500 for broadcasting in regions. License duty for radio broadcasting is not too high.

Local radio broadcasters have to pay between AZN 5 500 and AZN 11 000 for broadcasting throughout the country, between AZN 3 300 and AZN 5 500 for broadcasting in Baku, between AZN 1 100 and AZN 3 300 for regions.

Foreign radio broadcasters have to pay between AZN 44 000 and AZN 55 000 for broadcasting throughout the country, between AZN 22 000 and AZN 27 500 for broadcasting in Baku, between AZN 11 000 and AZN 16 500 for broadcasting in regions.

The license fee for cable broadcasting in Baku is between AZN 7 700 and AZN 11 000, for regions between AZN 3 300 and AZN 5 500, for satellite broadcasting between AZN 16 500 and AZN 22 000, for coded broadcasting of foreign channels through satellite AZN 3 300, for additional information broadcasting between AZN 1 000 and AZN 1 100. The license term is 6 years.

Currently the TV broadcasters pay AZN 110 irrespective of the coverage area, APA reports.

Some days ago the National Broadcasting Council said that local broadcasters lack proper licenses allowing them to air programs of foreign broadcasters.
