Azerbaijani and Armenian students clashed in a fight at the Ryazan Avenue in Moscow yesterday, as reported by Day.Az with reference to Lider.

Representative of the press service for the Southeastern administrative okrug of Moscow Tatyana Koroleva said the incident, which occured near the Ryazan Avenue on January 21 is not policy-induced.

"About 20 people were detained, including Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Georgians, Belarus and representatives of other nationalities. All of them were released within an hour following the detainment.

All of them faced a charge under article 20.1 (using swear-words in public places) and will pay a fine in the amount which will be defined by the court", T.Koroleva said.

Azerbaijani student Elvin has got an injury in the head in the result of the fight.

Azerbaijani students, involved into the fight, are the students of the Moscow high schools, while Armenian students are representatives of the local affiliate of the Dashnaktsutsun party.

Militiamen confiscated cold weapon and guns from the detained Armenians.

No criminal proceedings were instituted against Azerbaijanis.

Several Armenians are still kept in the police stations.

As is reported, the Armenian students appointed a next meeting to fight with Azerbaijanis near the Okhotniy ryad underground station at 06:00 p.m.

As is reported, the clash involved about 300 people. The fight was prevented owing to the timely interference of Moscow militiamen. The clash was caused by a dispute between an Azerbaijani and an Armenian regarding the Garabagh conflict.

The militia men detained several students. All Azerbaijani students were released by the help of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Russia. It is also reported that a gun, knifes and other types of cold weapon were confiscated during the search of the Armenian students.
