Over 100,000 people suffer from diabetes in Azerbaijan

A regional conference of endocrinologists has been held in Ganja.
The due announcement was made by Suleyman Piriyev, head doctor of the Endocrinology hospital.

THe said the conference was attended by 40 endocrinologists.

Rauf Jabbarov, head of the Republican endocrinology center, speaking at the conference, noted that the number of diabetes patients has topped 100,000 people in Azerbaijan through the last three months.

He said 5-8% are children, the remaining are elderly people, most of them are insulin dependent. According to Jabbarov, on the whole over 600 people die in Azerbaijan per year in average.

According to Day.Az, 6,403 diabetes patients including 26 children have been registered at the endocrinology hospital of Ganja.
