Lerik settlement in Azerbaijan to be declared a city

Day.Az reports that the due decision is expected to be adopted soon.

It should be noted that the Lerik region of Azerbaijan was formed in 1930 and the center became the Lerik settlement.

Currently the population of the settlement is 7-7,500 people.

The settlement is characterized by numerous but scarcely populated villages. 70,000 people reside in 160 settlements of Lerik.

For comparison, the neighbor Lenkoran accounts for 200,000 residents of 93 settlements.
