Defender of imprisoned editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper not allowed to meet his defendant

Elchin Sadikhov, defender of editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid, held in correctional facility No 17, is unable to meet his defendant, said defender personally to Day.Az.
He noted that the administration of prison No 17 does not allow him to meet Ganimat Zahid.

"In this connection, I have sent an appeal to prison No 17 and penitentiary system of the Justice Ministry but I have not received any response yet", noted Sadikhov.

He said a defender does not need to get a permission of the jail administration for a meeting with his defendant.

"As I am not allowed to meet the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, this week I have filed a claim to the Nasimi district court of Baku", concluded the human rights activist.
