The Civil Solidarity Party considers it necessary to change endings of the family names of the citizens of Azerbaijan in line with the national laws, said head of the party administration Samir Asadli.

He noted that the party adopted a statement, according to which it is necessary to replace the rusified endings "-ov" and "yev" with national "-li", "-ly", "-soy", "-beyli", "-khanly" and so on.
"Though in 1992 the parliament of Azerbaijan adopted a draft law, which says that the endings of the surnames must be changed, artificial obstacles are still created in these issues.
In particular, citizens face obstacles while changing the surname. Sometimes they demand bribes from people. As a party we demand from the authorized agents to investigate this issue and attain the execution of the law.
The party voiced hope that from now on new born children will be given surnames, corresponding to national standards", says the press release.
