Aydin Mirzazade: "Bullying is an event not typical of Azerbaijani people"

30 October 2008 [18:48] - TODAY.AZ
Public must be informed even about insignificant events in the army, said Aydin Mirzazade, deputy chairman of the parliamentary commission on defense and security.
He said the discussions, recently held in public about one or two facts of bullying in the Azerbaijani army, prove that the public is informed about the processes in the army.

"This is the government of Azerbaijan, which primarily creates conditions for discussions and which it does not intend to conceal", said he.

According to him, bullying is not of systemic nature in the Azerbaijani army and on the whole it is not typical of the Azerbaijani people.

"Azerbaijani army has carried out huge works since the day of its creation, which led to formation of the system with high discipline. The material and technical basis of the army is being strengthened, army applies NATO standards and it has many officers, which passed NATO courses.

Each soldier fulfills the duties, he assumed, but the answer to the question, why negative events occur sometimes is that the army is in fact a complex system, which involves people of different levels of culture and psychology and therefore, it is difficult to get them together within a short period of time.

In this connection officers bear a special responsibility for that", said Mirzazade.
