President of Azerbaijan names honorary professor of Turkmenistan state university after Makhtumkuli

The Azerbaijani leader who arrived at the university to receive the diploma was welcomed here by Turkmen Education Minister Muhammadgaldi Annaamanov and the university`s rector Charyad Tugiyev.

Prior to the ceremony on the occasion, President Ilham Aliyev viewed photo exhibition reflecting the University`s history.

Opening the ceremony Rector Charyad Tugiyev described it as remarkable event in the University`s life.

According to him, President Aliyev was awarded the diploma for his contribution to developing humanitarian relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

The Rector presented Ilham Aliyev with the University`s diploma of honorary professor and Turkmen national dress.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the University for honoring him with the diploma.

He briefed the audience on the meetings he held during his current trip.

He praised the Turkmen government`s attention towards developing education in the country.

The Head of State also spoke of successful education reforms underway in his country.
