Members of the Monitoring group of the human rights organizations have sent an appeal to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, said human rights activist Chingiz Ganizade.
The appeal thanks the head of the state for allowing editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid and newspaper correspondent Mirza Sakit to attend the funeral of their father Salim Zahidov.

"This instruction of our president is a humanistic step and we are grateful to him for this. At the same time, it is the first case in the practice of the penitentiary system", noted Ganizade.

The human rights activist noted that the appeal also voices request to pardon all the arrested journalists.

"The letter was signed by human rights activists Saida Gojamanly, Arzu Abdullayeva, Novella Cafaroghlu and me", said Ganizade.
