Azerbaijan State Customs Committee renders harmless organized gang engaged in smuggling of drugs

Officers of the Head Air Transport Customs Office found 3.295kg heroin in a package hidden in the suitcase belonging to citizen of Uzbekistan Khojayeva Mastura, who attempted to get into the plane en route Baku-Urumchi, press service of State Customs Committee told APA. According to the explanation of Khojayeva, officers of the Air Transport Customs Office and State Customs Committee found 3.330kg heroin in a suitcase in the room of Pakistan citizens Ali Yohar and Navaz Muhammad and 8.565kg heroin in two suitcases in the room of Pakistan citizen Rahim Sayid in “Jenub” hotel.

Investigation Department of State Customs Committee launched criminal case on the fact on Article 206.4 (smuggling), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation found out that member of the organized gang Khojayeva Mastura took the suitcase with 3295g heroin from Ali Yohar in “Jenub” hotel to hand over to a man called “Dcov” living in China. She was detained at Heydar Aliyev International Airport while attempting to leave for China.

Other members of the gang – Pakistan citizens Ali Yohar, Navaz Muhammad, Rahim Sayid took 15.120kg heroin from the persons called “Jamil” and “Irshad” in Pakistan and smuggled to Baku to deliver to a man called “Dcov”.

Members of the gang – Khojayeva Mastura, Ali Yohar, Navaz Muhammad and Rahim Sayid were detained by the Investigation Department of the State Customs Committee, Yasamal district court sentenced them to three months in jail.

Officers of the State Customs Committee also prevented smuggling of narcotic in the southern borders of Azerbaijan. Officers of Astara Customs Department found 6.952kg heroin hidden among the bed linen belonging to Pakistan citizen Zahoor Khan.

The State Customs Committee field investigators detained Lithuanian citizen Turskis Tomas when he received drugs from Pakistani citizen Zahoor Ahmad Khan in Empire Hotel in Baku. They face with charges under articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code. The investigators made clear that Zahoor Khan criminally conspired with Tomas and other persons with nicknames Ixrac, Asturas and Christies, whose real names are identified now, to smuggle narcotic drugs from Pakistan to Azerbaijan via Iran. Tomas and Zahoor Khan were detained in Astara Customs Point in Azerbaijan and are in pre-trial custody for three months by the Yasamal district court’s decision.

Pakistani citizen Gul Misal Itbar Khan was also detained by Azerbaijani customs officials in Astara checkpoint when he tried to smuggle 5 kg and 889,113 g heroin from Pakistan to Azerbaijan via Iran. He was detained as a suspect for three-month pre-trial detention by the Ysamal district court’s decision.
