The Day of Republic in Azerbaijan was celebrated in Astana.
The Azerbaijani Diaspora Khazar and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan organized the ceremony on the Day of Republic.

Azerbaijani Ambassador in Kazakhstan Latif Gandilov opened the ceremony.

He said the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was proclaimed on May 28, 1918. However, the Republic did exist only 23 months. On April 28, 1920, the 11th Red Army occupied Baku and the Republic collapsed.

"The Day of Republic was revived and once again pointed out in the country as a national holiday since 1990. Azerbaijan occupies a worthy place among other countries in the world, that its wealth is used for the benefit of the people thanks to first President Heydar Aliyev," he added.

Azerbaijani Diaspora members Vidadi Agayev and Vidadi Salakhov, as well as representatives of Turkish Diaspora and guests delivered a speech at the ceremony.
