Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences launches working group on national strategy: president

Real steps will be made toward implementation of the National Strategy for Scientific Development in 2009-2015 after the recommendations of UNESCO experts, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Mahmoud Karimov said.
He said the UNESCO experts have already visited Azerbaijan and learned the level of scientific development and situation of the ANAS institutes in the country.

“We are waiting for their recommendations on implementation of National Strategy. The parliament is also expected to discuss the draft law on development of science in its autumn session. ANAS has established working groups on the National Strategy as well”.

Karimov said the National Strategy envisages assessment of situation of ANAS institutes and joining of institutes under some ministries to ANAS.

It will be implemented not by ANAS, but by the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. “The Cabinet of Ministers has st up special commission on that issue. We are waiting for the government’s order”.
