During his visit to Gusar region, President Ilham Aliyev laid foundation stone for Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex.

The Azerbaijani leader placed a time capsule into the foundation and filled it with liquid concrete, marking the formal start of the construction.

The Head of State was informed that the complex is situated 30 km north of Gusar city centre.
Shahdag winter and summer tourism complex will create opportunities for local and foreign tourists to indulge in winter sports, including mountain ski.

The complex will have also football and basketball playgrounds, indoor sports and exercise facility, aqua park and swimming polls.

The complex which covers two thousand hectares will also include a 312-bed 5 star, a 346-bed 4 star and 282-bed 3 star hotels and cottages. More than 5 thousand people will work in this centre to be constructed at a height of 2000 meters above the sea level.

The complex will include shopping centers, underground and above-ground parking garages.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism supervises the construction works, which are expected to end in 2011.

President Aliyev has visited “Suvar” Alpine Tourist Centre at the bottom of Shahdag in Gusar.

The president was informed that the area of the center is 5 hectares and is at a height of 1850 meters above sea level. There are 28 cottages with 1, 2 and 3 rooms meeting high-tech
standards. The center also includes 2 canteens and a parking garage.

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev visited a fish factory here.

The factory established at the beginning of the current year covers the area of 11 hectares and has 55 ponds.

President Ilham Aliyev wished success to the employees of the factory.

On his way to Baku from Gusar region, President Ilham Aliyev met with representatives of Jewish community in Krasnaya Sloboda (Red settlement) of the Guba region.

The residents expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leader for his care to development of Guba.
The Head of State expressed satisfaction with ongoing construction work in the region.

President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the residents and wished them good health.

The President ended his tour of Guba and Gusar regions.

President Ilham Aliyev viewed state flag square in Gusar.

The Square, construction of which started in May current year, was built on the highest place of the city`s entrance.

The construction of the square was supported by State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and covers 16.000 square meters.

The Head of State was informed about the plan-scheme of Samur-Hazra Road, and draft of the Heydar Aliyev Park and museum complex.

President of Azerbaijan gave certain instructions and assignments.

President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated memorial to Gusar and Guba heroes died in Bloody Valley.

The President inaugurated a memorial to Gusar and Guba heroes who fell victims in Bloody Valley.

President Ilham Aliyev took the white veil from the monument and addressed to members of the Gusar public.

“We take all these measures so that regions of Azerbaijan will develop and all problems of Azerbaijan will be solved. Modern infrastructure is being built in all regions, roads are laid and work is under way to improve welfare,” the president said.

“Now, despite ongoing world economic crisis, our economy keeps growing. New facilities - hospitals, parks, power plants, roads, schools and so on are opened in Azerbaijan. This shows that our economic and political line is correct.”

“We will not deviate from this line. In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly expanded its capabilities and all people live in conditions of goodwill and brotherhood, as one family in Azerbaijan,” President Aliyev said.

“Additional measures for the development of the northern regions will be taken further. I am confident that in future Gusar region will witness a lot of wonderful events. Once again I warmly welcome you and wish you good health and success,” the President said.

Then, President Aliyev posed for photographs together with residents.

President Ilham Aliyev inspected construction of Gusar central hospital.

Visiting northern part of Azerbaijan, the President inspected construction of Gusar central hospital.

The President was informed that the 230- bedsteads hospital will meet modern standards. The hospital, which covers 3,5 hectare territory, will have departments of surgery, resuscitation, diagnostics, ultrasound treatment, infectious disease, delivery room and TB Prophylactic Center. It will be equipped with high-tech facilities.

As stated, the hospital has one main four-storey building and seven subsidiary buildings.
The State Oil Company financially supports construction of the hospital which is expected to start functioning next year.

On Sept. 18, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the highway Baku-Guba-Russian state border (16-134 km) after reconstruction.

Reconstruction and laying concrete pavement at 16-134 kilometers section of Baku-Guba-Russian state border started in May last year. Contractor of the project was Akkord company.

President Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Gusar region after completing his trip to Guba.

The Head of State first visited the Heydar Aliyev park to lay flowers at the nationwide leader`s monument.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated the “Shahdag” electric power station here.

President of the Azerenergy joint-stock company Etibar Pirverdiyev said the area of the station totals 14 hectares. It is going to be a huge contribution to the power industry of Azerbaijan.

The construction of the station began by the local AZENKO company in 2008. The electric equipment was provided by the Switzerland`s ABB and power equipment by Finland`s Wartsila.

The station` s generating capacity is 700 kilovolt. The second Guba 110-kilovolt overhead transmission line, 14-km pipeline to supply the station with gas and a gas-distributing station have been built here.

The Shahdag station will improve electricity supply for the Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourism Complex as well as Guba and Gusar regions.

President Ilham Aliyev toured the facilities at the station.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited the massive genocide grave here.

The Head of State was informed that the grave is an evidence of the genocide committed by Armenians against local civilians in 1918. The total area of the grave is 514 sq. meters. The excavations discovered over 400 bodies brutally killed by Armenians. Of them, over 50 are children, over 100 women while the rest are men.

The employees of the Archeology and Ethnography Institute did a preliminary examination here from April 8 to 11, 2007. The archival documents proved that Armenians ruined 122 villages and committed atrocities against civilians in April-May 1918, killing 36,782 people.

The President was briefed about the monument to be mounted here.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today inspected the construction progress of a new building for the Heydar Aliyev Museum.

The Head of State was told about the efforts to enrich the collections of the Heydar Aliyev Museum. The museum will host the collections of a lot of items featuring the activity of national leader.

The Museum founded in 2005 has seen a rise in public interest. Over the past nine months of the year alone, the museum visitors have numbered 17,000. Given the rising interest in national leader`s legacy, construction of the new three-storey building has begun in August this year. The information and communication technologies will be widely used here.

President Ilham Aliyev gave recommendations and instructions concerning the design and construction of the building.
