Heavy rains flood dozens of homes in Azerbaijan's Hajiqabul region

The downpour closed most roads and swamped the Hajigabul section of Silk Road.

In the afternoon more than 300 houses were flooded in Navahi and Ranjbar villages and strong water flow sent cars and roadside facilities floating down streets for several meters.

Railways and overhead power lines were damaged, farmers’ cattle were killed and cars, outhouses and auxiliary buildings were knocked down by river-like flows from mountains.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has sent special vehicles and personnel to help the people to restore the normal life.

Sahib Aslanov, chairman of local emergency situations task force, said the main highway from Baku to Gazakh was flooded in Hajigabul, causing traffic jam in the road. The road were opened after an hours.
