Azermarka company of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies has introduced a postage stamp dedicated to 100th anniversary of the first Azerbaijani female pilot Leyla Mammadbayova, the ministry said.

Known as the first woman pilot of the East, Leyla Mammadbeyova got her first vocational education in Baku flying club and made her first flight in 1931.
During the Great Patriotic War Major Leyla Mammadbeyova as a mother of four underage children (she had six children) was denied permission to go to the front.
Though flying club closed down, she managed to get permission to conduct paratrooper and parachuter courses. During the war she trained hundreds paratroopers and 4,000 parachute jumpers, two of whom became heroes of the Soviet Union.
She made her last flight in 1949.
