Czech parliament's president to contribute to opening of Czech centre and library at university in Baku

The awarded Vusal Isgandarli and Nazrin Valiyeva participated in the 37th International Exhibition of Fine Arts-2009 in the Czech town of Lidice.

"The history of every nation has tragic pages. Entire Lidice was burned down during the World War II, the population was exterminated and the town became a symbol of the tragedy of World War II," Sobotka said while presenting awards.

On Sept. 25, the BSU hosted a meeting of the Czech delegation, headed by Senate Chairman Sobotka.

He expressed satisfaction that there is a university studying Slavic languages in Baku.

"Those students who study the Czech language can engage in diplomacy and Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic Tahir Taghizade can serve as a good example of this," Sobotka said.

He said besides the diplomatic service, business contacts also develop between the countries.

"Our businessmen have already begun to develop contacts with their Azerbaijani counterparts," he said.

Azerbaijan, like the Czech Republic, spent much time in an atmosphere of lack of freedom and a totalitarian system, said Sobotka.

"Protect your freedom and democracy, because life in freedom and democracy is much more beautiful," he said.

Sobotka gave the rector of BSU Kamal Abdullah a book about the Czech Senate in the English and Czech languages, promising to facilitate opening of the Czech center and library at the university in the near future.
