Designer of Baku general plan to be announced soon

"The tender results may be announced later this week," Gojayev added.

The tender commission delayed selection of a winner because of the attractiveness and diversity of all proposals.

The committee received applications for participation in the tender from 34 companies from 21 countries. Only six groups of companies participated in the tender.

The tender procedure is carried out with support of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (a member of the World Bank group).

Under the conditions of tender, the plan will be developed over two years.

"The plan is called Greater Baku, as the previous plan for Baku covered graphic principles and 22,000 hectares of the territory of the capital city. The real area of Baku totals 219,000 hectares," Gojayev said earlier.

Baku's general plan was last developed in 1987.
