Azerbaijani court issues decision on Lebanese nationals planning to attack Israeli embassy

The Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court has passed a sentence on persons charged with an attempt to blast Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and Gabala Radar Station.
The legal proceedings against persons charged with links with Hezbollah and Al-Qaida, Karaki Ali Mohammad and Najmaddin Ali Huseyn are from Lebanon and remaining four Javid Mammadov, Vidadi Rasulov, Mushviq Amanov and Afgan Balashov have completed, the court said in a statement.

Two people accused of state treason, preparing a an act of terrorism, espionage and other articles (totally 13 articles) - Karaki Ali Muhammad and Najmeddin Ali Hussein are nationals of Lebanon, the rest four - Javid Mammadov, Vidadi Rasulov, Mushfig Amanov and Afgan Balashov - nationals of Azerbaijan.

The court sentenced Karaki Ali Muhammad to 15 years, Najmeddin Ali Hussein-15, Javid Mammadov-12, Vidadi Rasulov -14, Mushfig Amanov -13 and Afgan Balashov - 12 in jail.

They were detained in May 2008. Illegal Iranian passports were seized from the Lebanese citizens.

Karaki Ali Mohammad and Najmaddin Ali Huseyn were trained and sent to Azerbaijan by Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda leaders.

They were tasked with blasting Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and Gabala Radar Station.    

The charged Azerbaijani nationals were to help them.
