The State Border Service of Azerbaijan strengthened security on the boundary waters and coastal area to ensure security of Azerbaijan’s sector on the Caspian Sea and infrastructure of oil and gas production and transportation.

The coast guard ships, technical array and coastal stations are controlling the ships, boats and other navigation means and observing the floating areas and ways as well, press center of the State Border Service said.
As a result of security measures, residents of Baku – Alim Babayev, 55, Sergei Orachov, 36 and Orkhan Jabbarov, 35 were detained on Oct. 5 as they went to the sea without allowance and were illegally fishing using unauthorized methods.
They used explosives during the fishing and caught 200 kilograms of fish.
Different chemical substances and explosives were found in the Orachov’s house and an accumulator, projector and fishing-rod were found in their boat.
The investigation department of the State Border Service launched criminal investigation against them.
The State Border Service is continuing preventive measures against use of explosives during the fishing, which can strongly damage oil and gas production infrastructure on the sea.
