State Marine Administration of Azerbaijan attended the conference in New York, marking the World Maritime Day, the Administration said on Oct. 23.

The conference was organized by the United States Coast Guard and the International Maritime Organization.
The main theme of the conference was the question of the impact of climate change on marine transport, which covers 80 percent of freight traffic, and generally climate change taking place in the world.
The Marine Administration was represented at the conference by the administration's chief Gudrat Gurbanov.
The conference was also attended by the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Admiral Eftimios Mitropoulos.
The conference highlighted a need for practical and immediate action as soon as possible to prevent climate change, with the assistance of scientific research institutes specialized in maritime transport.
