Azerbaijani education ministry to introduce new model for retraining of teachers

The new model based on foreign experience involves stimulating the improvement of teachers' skills so that they could apply innovations and modern teaching strategies in their work.

The minister said the control over improvement of teachers should be strengthened and a competitive atmosphere should be created in this area.

Some Azerbaijani regions, including Shamakhi, Salyan, Jalilabad and Zagatala lack scientific and pedagogical potential for improvement, Mardanov added.

Nearly 200,000 teachers need to pass refresher courses in Azerbaijan and currently only 18 institutions are involved in retraining of teachers.
