The “Molla Nasraddin – Azerbaijan” third international cartoon contest kicked off in Baku with the support of the Azerbaijan Union of Caricaturists, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Union of Artists and Federation of Cartoonists Organizations (FECO).
The competition is devoted to the 130th birthday of outstanding Azerbaijani cartoonist Azim Azimzadeh and 40th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Union of Artists.
The international cartoon contest ends on April 7, 2010 - the day when the first issue of “Molla Nasraddin” satirical magazine came out.
The International Federation of Cartoonists Organizations has given a 5-star rating to the Molla Nasraddin – Azerbaijan contest.
The fact that the jury is comprised of such renowned caricaturists as Marlen Pohle (Germany), George Likuriki (Romania), Stanislav Ashmarin (Russia), Ismail Kar (Turkey), Boris Erenburg (Israel), Talal Nayer (Sudan), Sevda Annati Rad (Iran), Valeri Momot (Ukraine) and Azerbaijan cartoonist Bayram Hajizadeh (Chairman) guarantuees transparency of the contest.
The contest is expected to gather 1,000 cartoonists from 70 countries.
