Azerbaijani president receives members of national chess team who claimed European crown

The President congratulated the chess players on the victory, describing it as “a historic triumph”.

President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Elman Rustamov said the win is “a logical result of ongoing development processes in the country”.

The team`s captain Zurab Azmayparashvili handed over a congratulatory letter of President of the International Chess Federation Kirsan Ilumjinov to President Ilham Aliyev.

Chess grandmaster Vugar Hashimov vowed they would make every effort to secure higher achievements in the international sports arena.

Following the meeting the President and the national team members posed together for photographs.
