ADA rector: Conducting Scientific Olympiads in Azerbaijan increases society's interest in science

Conducting Scientific Olympiads in Azerbaijan regarding basic sciences is important not only for participants, but also for the country as a whole, since such activities support the reforms in education and science, which in turn increases the interest of society towards science, the Rector of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy Hafiz Pashayev briefed the media in Baku.

Pashayev said head of the Scientific Committee of the Olympiad, the participants of the event were satisfied with the level of its organization.

Another positive aspect of conducting the Olympiad in Baku is that the guests, participants had an opportunity to get familiarized with Azerbaijan, with its present reality, which will popularize the republic abroad, he added.

The 6th International Scientific Olympiad was conducted in Baku on Dec. 2-10.

The pupils and teachers from 49 countries worldwide involved in the Olympiads.

The competition is held in English.

Earlier the Olympiad was held in Indonesia in 2004-2005, in Brazil in 2006, in Taiwan in 2007 and  in Korea in 2008.
