Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation allocates financial assistance to Azerbaijani journalists' families

Based on the letter of the Fund of Assistance for Protection of Freedom of Speech and Journalists, Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation allocated extra $10,000 to families of the imprisoned journalists.

Fund of Assistance for Protection of Freedom of Speech and Journalists said the Fund's regular meeting was devoted to that problem.

Five appeals in connection with the assistance to the family or official representative of the imprisoned journalists were considered at the meeting.

All of the appeals were granted and it was decided to allocate $9,000 in assistance.

According to the decision, $3,000 has been allocated to the family of Azadlig newspaper's imprisoned editor-in-chief Ganimat Zahid, $3,000 to the family of imprisoned editor-in-chief of the Gundalik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev (based on the appeal of his father Emin Fatullayev), $1,000 to the family of the Bizim Yol correspondent Mushfig Huseynov, $1,000 to the family of AN online television Emin Milli and $1,000 to the family of the arrested blogger Adnan Hajizade.
