Missing resident of Azerbaijan's Tovuz region is likely to be captured by Armenian side - UPDATE

Resident of Azerbaijan's Tovuz region who went on the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops on Dec. 28 is likely to be captured by Armenian side, the State Committee for Prisoners of War, Missing Persons, and Hostages Affairs Secretary Shahin Sayilov said.

"According to unofficial information, resident of Alibayli village of Tovuz region, Tagiyev Eldar Heydar was captured," Sayilov said.

He said the State Commission expects confirmation of this fact by the Armenian mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

A military source that residents of Alibayli village applied to a military unit in the territory of the region and said Tagiyev, 45, went missing on Monday night.

That time Azerbaijani citizen was shot by Armenian military men.

There is a probability that Tagiyev died. This fact is under investigation. 

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has not confirmed the information yet.

Resident of Azerbaijan's Tovuz region was killed after the Armenian troops violated the ceasefire.

The Armenians shot resident of Alibeyli village Tagiyev Eldar Heydar near the contact line between the troops at about 18.00 on Dec. 28.

Tagiyev died at site.

Tagiyev was shot dead when he was fishing in Tovuz River passing near the contact line between Alibeyli village of Azerbaijan’s Tovuz region and Aygezor village of Armenia’s Berd region.
