Azerbaijan General Prosecutor's Office says the number of crimes considerably reduced in 2009.

"Necessary measures were taken to strengthen anti-corruption struggle in 2009," the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan reported in its meeting dedicated to outcomes of outgoing year and future tasks.
The General Prosecutor's Office investigated 103 criminal cases about 176 persons, who were accused of bribery, abuse of office, exceeding authority and other similar crimes. The cases were sent to the courts.
As a result of joint measures taken together with other law-enforcement organizations, particularly Interior Ministry and Ministry of National Security, the number of crimes such as deliberate harming health, racketeering, robbery, carjacking and crimes committed by minors was reduced in the past 11 months against the results of previous reporting period.
The facts of kidnapping were not identified. About 86 percent of 20,646 crimes was solved.
