A strong hurricane in the southern region of Azerbaijan has completely left Lerik and Yardimli regions without electricity.

According to the regions' Emergency Commissions, the wind blowing at a speed of 30-40 meters per second threw more than 300 power line poles, 4 high-voltage electricity pylon in Lerik region.
As a result, tens of kilometers of electrical wires were broken causing power outage in the region. In some communities there are serious problems with phone communication.
The wind tore off the roof of many buildings.
Hurricane also caused fire in the territory of 3 hectares in Birkandul forest.
In Yardimli region, the hurricane had knocked down more than 100 power line poles, destroyed three private houses and tore off the roof of three schools.
At present, reconstruction is not conducted, because of the strong wind which is still blowing.
A telegram on the disaster was sent to the Cabinet of Ministers and Emergency Ministry.
