Public prosecutor demands 15-year sentence for editor-in-chief of newspaper in Azerbaijan

The Court for Serious Crimes held a hearing on the case of Nazim Guliyev, founder and editor-in-chief of the Ideal newspaper on Jan. 5.
The public prosecutor demanded 15-year sentence for Nazim Guliyev.

The hearing will continue on Jan. 11.

According to the indictment, Guliyev faced charges under Articles 182.2 (Extortion), 182.2.3 (extortion with use of force), 182.3.2 (extortion with a purpose of occupying large size of property), 221.1 (hooliganism) and 234.1 (Illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code.
