Iranian balloon swallower dies in Azerbaijan

According to the local prosecutor’s office, Behroz Rehman Bani Saffari, 31, crossed the national border on January 7 and overnighted in Azerbaijani citizen Salman Velimmamad Huseynov’s house in Erjivan village of Astara.

When he fell ill on January 8, an ambulance was called and arriving doctors found Behroz lying dead.

After postmortem forensic examination, it was discovered that he swallowed tiny cellophane bags containing illicit drug.

In total 340 grams of drugs in 8 tiny packs in his intestines and 118 packs in his stomach were removed in the autopsy.

According to the examination, the mule died after one of packets burst before exiting the body.

Investigation is under way.
