137 tons of expired food found in Azerbaijan's retail outlets last year

Azerbaijan’s State Service for Consumer Market Control made regular swoops on stores to monitor consumer market in 2009.
During the monitoring, expired food products including confectionery, sausages, oil, baby food, beers, milk and dairy products, soft drinks, and other products weighing about 137 tons were found in several stores in Baku and regions.

The expired products were withdrawn from sale and destroyed.

Besides, 178 counterfeit schoolbooks and 5,921 copybooks short of standards were found.

Over ,1 017 tons of counterfeit cement was discovered in stores.

Several individuals were administratively disciplined for wrongdoing.
