Azerbaijani ombudswoman meets honorary president of Belgian senate

Suleymanova briefed Lizin on what the Azeri government had been doing to strengthen the protection of human rights in the country.

“Azerbaijan declared the protection of human rights its number one priority on its path to democracy.”

Suleymanova also highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“In the result of Armenia`s military aggression 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territories have been occupied and over million Azerbaijanis ousted from their homeland.”

Lizin praised the Azeri Ombudsman Office's efforts towards ensuring human right and freedoms in the country.
