The organisation will use the 9 February event to showcase its Wild Web Woods game. More than two million children are estimated to have played the kids challenge which has been translated into 22 languages. It shows youngsters how they can surf the internet in safety.
“The Wild Web Woods game gives children the skills for safe surfing and it gives peace of mind to parents who might not always know what their children are doing online,” spokesman said.
“Safer Internet Day is a reminder to us all that the web should be a place for enjoyment and a great learning environment not a danger zone where young people can be targeted and exploited.”
A practical guide to the Wild Web Woods project aimed at teachers is also available.
