Azerbaijan sees rise in number of media outlets

The number of NGOs and media outlets is growing Azerbaijan every year, which plays an important role in promoting and developing democracy in the country, the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry said.

Over 160 organizations were registered with the ministry in 2009 with number of non-profit organizations reaching 3,400.

More than 300 new media outlets were registered in 2009. Currently, Azerbaijan has 4,100 operating media outlets.
