European Court chairman: Azerbaijan has made progress in human rights

“Though Azerbaijan is in the list of countries which must do several improvements, it approaches to human rights and especially training of local judges very seriously. It is also a big improvement”, Chairman of the European Court of Human Rights Jean-Paul Costa said at the Interlaken conference on the future of the court.

Jean-Paul Costa was on a visit to Azerbaijan some months ago and held several meetings.

“I met with Azerbaijani Justice Minister, who is participating at this conference. Recently, Azerbaijan has achieved improvements and I believe it will continue. But a lot of problems still remain for the time being," the European Court chairman said.
