Mexico honored memory of Khojali tragedy victims. The press service of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico said that National Autonomous University of Mexico held a conference devoted to the eighteenth anniversary of the genocide in Khojali.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov, chairman of the Association of Azerbaijanis in Latin America Natiq Atakishiyev, professors from universities of the U.S. and Mexico Thomas Golts and Carlos Baestoros attended the conference.
About 150 people, including teachers and students of the University, Azerbaijanis living in Mexico and members of the diplomatic corps attended the event.
Participants watched the film "Genocide of Khojali in Azerbaijan" in Spanish and listened to the song 'Justice for Khojali', performed by Tony Blackman and the group Deyirman.
Guests were also able to see the website of the international campaign 'Justice for Khojali' in Spanish (www.justiciaparajodyali.org and www.justiceforkhojaly.mx).
Participants of the event have made a joint photograph in T-shirts with the inscription 'Justicia para Jodyali' (Justice to Khojali).
Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojali on Feb. 26, 1992. The tragedies began early morning and within hours over 613 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed. Among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots and eight families were fully destroyed.
