Chairman of Agsu Emergency Situations Commission Igbal Mikayilov said the landslide in Sangalan, Kalva, Surakhany, Girrar and Guzay villages was extending day-by-day.
“The houses and public facilities in Sangalan and Kalva villages were damaged most. The experts of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations viewed the area. It was noted that the villages were indeed in the dangerous zone and it was recommended to resettle people," he said.
"The people were warned about the dangerous situation. It is dangerous to live in the landslide zone. The ground has been split 30-40cm, 5-10cm splits appeared in the houses. The soil, on which the village is situated, is sliding towards the river by half a meter every day. It is more expedient to resettle the whole village and build new houses in another area," he added.
"Ten out of 38 families have already moved to houses of their relatives in other villages. 28 families are still living there,” he said.
Residents of four most damaged houses were evacuated and temporarily settled in nearby village.
