Azerbaijani education minister: No large number of drug addicted students in Azerbaijan

Education Minister of Azerbaijan described the information of the U.S. State Department of Drug Control Strategy for 2010 claiming that there are large number of drug addicts in Azerbaijan among students as implausible.

"I reject this conclusion. It is an insult to the Azerbaijani people," said Education Minister Misir Mardanov.

The report, released on March 2 2010, stated that 30-35 percent of students in Azerbaijan suffer drug addiction.

Education Minister urged the press not to spread false information in this regard.
